Viewing Other's Access to an Object

To determine the access another user has to an object, you must first open the ACL for that object. (See Opening an ACL.) Note that you can inquire only about a particular user; you cannot request information about groups or cells.

1. Pull down the ACL menu and select Other's Access .... If the Other's Access ... menu option is dimmed, one of the following conditions applies:

· You are viewing an ACL that has been changed and has not yet been saved and therefore, is not available to the application server. The application server provides data for the query about Other's Access.

· You are viewing an initial object or initial container ACL. Since these ACLs are not protecting any object, asking about your access to an object through them is not available.

The Other User dialog box appears with the current ACL's home cell name as the default cell.

2. If desired, change the cell name by selecting the text and typing a new name in the Cell field.

3. Enter the name of the user in the User Name field.

4. Click OK.

The Other's Access dialog box appears with information about the permissions the specified user has to the specified object. See Understanding Permissions for more information about permissions.

5. Click OK to dismiss the dialog box.
