Why Is Configuration Planning Important?

It is essential to plan a cell's configuration (its own intercell environment and its relationship with other cells in the enterprisewide infrastructure) because a well-configured client/server environment is less expensive to manage and easier to use.

Some of the key configuration planning issues involve the simplicity or complexity of your cell's DCE servers, replication and dedication of specific servers, WAN or LAN topology, and DCE naming of the cell's individual objects and users.

See Planning DCE Core Services for specific planning steps.
