Planning DCE Core Services

Consider the following DCE core services issues when planning your new cell:

· Will your cell be a simple or complex configuration?

· Will your cell be failsoft or failsafe?

· Will you replicate core services to ensure service availability to the cell's user population? Can the users tolerate service interruptions?

· Will you replicate applications to ensure service availability to the cell's user population? Can the users tolerate service interruptions?

· Will your cell use other failover mechanisms such as disk shadowing, uninterruptable power sources, and so on?

· Will you connect your multiple cells by a LAN or a WAN? Will you connect your various machines by a WAN or a LAN?

· What naming scheme will you use to name objects and user accounts?
