When you create a new cell, you must give it a name. Most permanent DCE cells are created and named with the intention of enabling communications with other DCE cells through one of the following global directory services:
· Domain Name System (also known as DNS or BIND)
· Global Directory Service (also known as GDS or X.500)
If you want to use DNS for intercell communications, the new cell's name must conform to the DNS naming convention and should look something like this:
/.../dce.company_name.com
If you want to use GDS for intercell communications, the new cell's name must conform to the GDS naming convention and should look something like this:
/.../c=us/o=company_name/ou=org-unit-name
If you do not intend to conduct intercell communications, the new cell's name does not need to conform to either the GDS or DNS naming conventions.
