You can add owner information to the active ACL in one of two ways: you can add the owner or you can add the owner's group. You can have at most only one of each of these types; if such entries already exist in the ACL, their menu options are dimmed.
When you add an owner entry type, you establish permissions for the object's owner. When you add an owner's group, you establish permissions for the object's owner's group, unless they are specifically named in ACL entries of entry type user or owner.
To add an owner:
1. Pull down the Add Entries menu and select Add Owner ....
The Add Owner dialog box appears.
2. Click the permissions you want to grant.
To grant multiple permissions, click the permissions you want in the Permissions box. A checkmark appears next to each selected permission. To deselect a permission, click the selected permission.
For information on what each permission means, click the button.
3. When you are satisfied with how the permissions are set, click OK.
The dialog box is dismissed. The entry Object's Owner and the permissions you granted are now listed at the beginning of the ACL. Notice that the icon appears next to the entry to indicate that this is an owner entry.
To add an owner's group:
1. Pull down the Add Entries menu and select Add Owner's Group...
The Add Owner's Group dialog box appears.
2. Click the permissions you want to grant.
To grant multiple permissions, click the permissions you want in the Permissions box. A checkmark appears next to each selected permission. To deselect a permission, click the selected permissions.
For information on what each permission means, click the button.
3. When you are satisfied with how the permissions are set, click OK.
The dialog box is dismissed. The entry Owner's Group and the permissions you granted are now listed in the ACL. Notice that the icon appears next to the entry to indicate that this is an owner's group entry.
