Two to four server machines represent a minimum simple cell configuration:
· One host with GDA, CDS, and DTS
· One host with Security and DTS
· One host with applications, print queues, printers, and DTS
Notice that this configuration dedicates server machines to critical core services but does not replicate core services for failover. This simple cell relies on multiprocessors, disk shadowing, or other failover strategies. If the simple cell was limited to only two server machines, it would have to host its applications and printing services on the two server machines as well.
