Planning Intercell Communications

Consider the following intercell communication issues when planning your new cell:

· With which other cells must your cell share resources or conduct business? To communicate with other cells your cell and these other cells must have registered cell names with a global directory service such as DNS/BIND or GDS/X.500. See Planning and Registering a Cell's Name and Creating and Naming Your Cell for more global naming information. Authorized cell administrators can use the cdscp utility to display another cell's namespace and directories and the dce_login utility to log in to other cells for communication purposes.

· Will your cell be communicating with other cells across a LAN or WAN?

· Will you establish trust relationships between your cell and the other cells with whom it needs to interact?

· How will you test intercell communication after initial cell creation and thereafter?
