1. Log in to the client system using a valid Windows username and password. This Windows user account must have the Windows Administrator privilege.
2. Start DCEsetup, pull down the Administration menu, and choose Remote Client>Create… . The Remote Host Configuration dialog box appears, asking you to provide the following information:
· DCE host name. This field is optional.
· Host ID of the client system being configured. (If you specify a host ID, the dcecp -host_id field reflects this. Otherwise, the -host_id field contains the specified host name.) This field is required. The host ID is the machine identifier and can either be the TCP/IP name (for example, node01 or node16.lkg.dec.com) or the TCP/IP address (for example, 11.22.13.232). If the host machine has not been connected to the network yet, the TCP/IP address must be used for a successful remote client configuration.
· Name of the cell the client system will join.
· LAN Profile name, if the cell uses multiple LANs.
· Principal account name with cell administrator privileges and associated password
If you wish to enable the Name Service Interface Gateway on the local client, you must choose to configure it first during this Remote Client configuration so that the proper account information is created for the local client.
After entering this information, click OK. Now users can use the stored information to configure a local client. For more information, see Configuring a Local Client.
